Habit Stacking Made Simple

Attach new habits to ones you already do. A simple formula with everyday examples.

The easiest way to start a new habit is to attach it to something you already do every day. This is called habit stacking.
The formula
After I [current habit], I will [new habit].
Your current habit acts as the trigger, so you don't have to rely on remembering or on motivation.
Everyday examples
- After I pour my morning coffee, I will write down my one priority for the day.
- After I brush my teeth at night, I will read two pages.
- After I sit down at my desk, I will drink a glass of water.
- After I close my laptop for the day, I will write a short evening journal entry.
